Ben Jones – Reds Joinery

Meet Ben Jones, he is the first of our 25th anniversary year sponsored apprentices to complete his first 12 months.  Ben, 19, is completing his Level 2 Carpentry & Joinery apprenticeship with Reds Joinery, based in Liverpool, with the training through Hugh Baird College.

“I enjoyed woodwork in school, so this was an obvious choice for me”, Ben said, “During this first year I have been involved in multiple projects.”

“One of the first projects was learning how to measure, cut and fix the timber together to make a stud wall. Then plum and level the stud and fix it to the wall.”

“Since then I have been fitting door frames, including routering out for the hinges. On another project I was fixing base units, ensuring they are level and hanging the doors.”

“I am now comfortable reading drawings to make sure the timber is to the correct measurement.”
